Tribute by the 1982 batch of Civil Services

"It is most tragic that our batchmate and ATS chief of Mumbai Police Hemant Karkare, alongwith Additional Commissioner Ashok Kamte, another Additional Commissioner Sadanand Date, noted encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, ATS sub-inspector Sudhir Dalvi and many other police officers, have sacrificed their lives during a series of encounters in Mumbai.It must be among the most tragic and gruesome incidents in Independent India's history.
